If you are looking for a low-prep Valentine's Day activity, then this is one for you!  A simple set-up to introduce numbers and counting into your kiddies play. The use of pegs helps in building strength of fine motor muscles and coordination. They also encourage the pinching action between the thumb and finger, which helps in the development of good finger grip.

What you will need:
- Paper
- Pegs
- Scissors
- Marker

How to:

Cut 10 hearts out of paper, or as many as you like!

Using a marker, write the numbers 1 to 10 on each heart. Depending on your child's exposure to numbers and counting, you could also use dots which allows them to point and count aloud.

Place the hearts in a stack beside a bowl of pegs.

Now time to attached the pegs, matching them to the numbers or dots.
